Mind Games - the Australian/Indian Cricket Team plays
October 6th, 2008
With the Australia-India series ready to kick start in a week, the mind games have already being played. Australia has been traditionally known to attack the opposing team at all levels - On and Off the field. They usually start their games well before the start of the first game of the series.
It could be as simple as targeting one particular player to make him lose the morale or unsettling the captain of the opposing team.
India has been lately more aggressive to return the hospitality of the Australians.

Akthar make fabulous IPL debut
May 13th, 2008
Shohaib Akthar - the bad boy of Pakistani Cricket could not have dreamt about a better debut in IPL than what he got on Tuesday. The ace star took the top 4 wickets of the Delhi devils team to cause a permenant damage from which Delhi never recovered.
The match was very crucial for Kolkata to keep their place in the top 4, but their batting was pretty mediocre with some clever bowling display by McGrath and co. They scored a mere 133 runs in their twenty overs. Salman Butt and Hussey were the top scorers making 48 and 37 respectively.
Chasing what seem to be an easy target the Delhi team lost their skipper Sehwag in the first over to Akthar without any score. By the time Sohaib ended his 3 over spell he had already finished the game by claiming the wickets of Gambir, De Villers and Tiwary apart from Sehwag. Dilshan and Mishra gave some resistance but in the end they could not stop the wickets falling under pressure. Delhi were bundled for 110 in the 18th over.
Delhi which seemed to be a formidable team until last week, have now brought pressure on themselves with 3 loses. It is going to be an uphill task to get back to the top 4. With Sachin back to the Mumbai team, they are going to give every figth to come to the top. Some exciting cricket to follow as the countdown to the Semi-final matches starts.

IPL season gears up for close fights
May 12th, 2008
After 34 league matches, IPL tournament is gearing up for some close and exciting matches ahead as the teams fight hard to seal their semifinal spots. After passing midway through the competition, the Deccan Chargers and the Bangalore Royal Challengers are the only two teams who have got themselves out of the competition.
The rest of the teams have been fighting hard so far. The ranks in the points table has been busy changing along with the fortunes of the teams. Starting with the Chennai team after the first 4 matches and then the money seem to have moved toward the Rajasthan team. The punjab, Chennai and Delhi have been doing quite consistently but late revivals in the Kolkatta team has ensured them in the top 4 at this point of time.
With Sachin scheduled to play his first match on wednesday, the Mumbai Indians could not be discounted. All the top 6 teams seem to be getting their combination right. Teams seem to have coped the loss of foreign stars of Australia and New zealand. It is still very tough to predict who could win the tournament.
I am gearing up for the exciting rest of the season…

Who will win IPL?
May 4th, 2008
After 15 days of intense cricket between eight city based teams in Indian Premier League - IPL, the fortunes of teams have changed dramatically. When the tournament began in Bangalore, few people gave any chance to Rajastan team led by Shane Warne which did not have any contemporory stars, but now they share the top position in points with Chennai, Punjab and Delhi. The team has rallied behind their skipper Shane Warne well.
Sharukh Khan owned, Ganguly captained Kolkata Knights started well but lost their way by losing 4 consecutive matches. While the Chennai Super Kings team led by MS Dhoni did well in their first 4 matches but with departure of Australian stars like Hayden and Hussey they look like an avarage team.
Delhi has comeback well with great bowling by McGrath and Co and astounding batting by Sehwag and Co. makes them a team to beat. The Punjab team looks equally formidable with strong bowling and batting display.
Mumbai, Bangalore and Deccan team have been shoddy in their display. All three teams face leadership crisis. While Twenty20 format has been too much for Dravid and Laxman, the Mumbai team with Sachin’s injury absence and the Harbajjan slapping fiasco has been drifting in the bottom.
I throw my money on Chennai and Delhi to be the finalists due to their strong leadership and over all ability. Punjab and Rajasthan can surprise and get to the finals. Keeping my fingers crossed till then.
IPL Favourite team
April 22nd, 2008
With the Multi-Million Dollar DLF IPL Championship underway, the questions among the fans is which team would be the facourites to win the cup. Would the Kolkata Knights or Chennai Super Kings, is it Bombay Indians or Punjab Kings XI.. the questions goes on.
Every team has its super stars who can win a match individually in their day. The availability of these stars could make a big difference. Some of the West Indies and Australian cricketers may not be available all through the season and this could be the deciding factor. Also the team that could blend the talent mixtures of the super stars best also can have the best shot.
All the teams would initially focus on qualifying for the semi finals spot and from there it is anybody’s game.
Is IPL good for Cricket?
February 22nd, 2008
The billion dollar debate in all the cricket fans across the world is if IPL is gonna turn out to be good for cricket or will it take it for the worse. With things unfolding so fast, the cricket world is not ready to catch up with it. IPL in its first edition makes many cricketers millionaires for a 50 day stint.
Unlike any other sport, cricket has long been associated to be played between coutries. Rivaliries between India and Pakistan, Australia and England have been sensational and people of respective countries have been emotional and passionate in these contests. National teams in the Indian subcontinent have been selected with criterias with permormance not always being the main concern.
The phenomena of IPL or ICL is gonna break all these jinxes with the best match winning cricketer given the best rewards. It is going to be interesting to watch how cricket fans will treat this contest. With matches being played based on city clubs, picking a team and supporting would be challenging. It would also tempt players to leave their national contests and play for IPL or ICL.
So with IPL set to start in May, only the future would tell if it was good or bad for cricket.

Showing all round cricketing skills NIIT and AspenBull came through tight corners. We are about to witness scintillating Final on 6thOct2007 at Elizabeth Park at 9:00AM.
To test the team’s all round strength, efficiency of cricketing strategy - Final would be of 15 overs with 3 over per bowler limit.
Invite friends, collegues and Family to make this a memorable event.
